Our 7 year old daughter has Lymes Disease.

It started in end of August 1999  she came home with high fever from school. We thought she had the flu. We treated her and her fever went down she seemed very tired. At this time I noticed the rashes bull eye like with nothing inside. I showed family members.
The next week she was sent home from school with a head ache and fever. Her fever was very high that evening and she had red rashes bull eye like on her body, my husband and I were very concerned we rushed her to emergency room. I told them she had rashes like a circle I said. I didn't see nothing in middle. Felecia told them her eyes were blurry, head, stomach, back and her knee hurt. They acted like she was faking for how could a child have pains every where. They asked her if she liked school etc. Her glands were swollen so they tested for mono. Which came positive. We believed them, we were given no medication told to give her ibuprofen and in ten days see her regular doctor.
Before the ten were up we called her doctor back and said she wasn't better. She was running low grade fever and still having extreme head aches,  and she said it hurt to walk. The doctor said she was to return to school and she did more blood tests. Said mono could last months! Said low grade fevers aren't nothing to worry about! Told us to keep giving her iduphren So we did we felt awful she was miserable!
They sent her home again from school and we called doctor again. She did more blood tests this time tested again for mono.  We also told the doctor about Felecia running into the van side mirror at the beginning of Sept we thought maybe this was causing her head aches. They did a head X-ray with no results.  That day we gave Felecia her iduphroen and she felt a bit better. The doctor had her jump around the room She had Felecia leave the room and she told us she was faking.
Her teacher was even getting frustrated said she was so white and pale and had dark circles under her eyes and knew she wasn't faking. We  knew in our hearts that was something wrong with our daughter!
We called doctor again and she sent us to a specialist "neurologist:" in another town which he found she was totally impacted. He called our doctor from his office our doctor told us two give her enema's at home to clean her out. We tried with no success, we called her again and asked if she looked at X-ray's of  her stomach she did not. Four days later she called after looking at X-rays had us come in to check her stomach. She gave us choice to hospitalize her or do enemas again at home that were not working for us, putting our daughter threw unbelievable stress. I said please do this in hospital. We were admitted and this problem was taken care in a overnight stay. We thought her being impacted was her problem all along but I kept telling them she never had problems with her bowels before all this started.
She returned to schools once again. This day she said her left leg hurt and she limped on it all day at school. When she woke up for in the morning  she told her daddy her knee hurt he looked and it was swollen huge, he took her to emergency room and they tapped her knee. There was a nurse there that said they should do a lymes disease test. We were told to bring her to our regular doctor in two days which we did, she found fluid in the other knee too. She made an appt. with rhumetologist for that friday in another town. We came home knowing no more.
Two days later our doctor called and said Felecia had a throat virus and prescribed amoxcillion, then two days laters she called back and said lymes disease test was positive she called into pharmacy 5 more weeks of ammoxcillion. This is where we at Nov.28 th, 1999
Will be adding all dates etc. as memory comes back and the bills pile in.
So far she has missed 19 days of school still not falling behind. Thank the lord!

Updated: It is now April 2000 as I reread this the night mare and frustration of those days all returned. Though as of this date she has made no more return trips to the doctor and has missed no more school.
As summer approaches it is scary to know she may get this again or what the long term effects are. She had not one one red bulls eye rash she had many. The best of it we told every doctor about these with no results!
