“I'd appreciate it very much if you'd just shut the fuck up. And I'd appreciate it very much if you'd just go the fuck way. And I'd appreciate it very much if you'd just back the fuck up. And I'd appreciate it very much if you'd just DROP DEAD!” - Keep it Clean (By Pitchshifter, from the album Deviant)

Ever get to the point where nobody seems to make you feel better? You're pissed off at the world, and nothing seems to be working? Nothing you do seems to stop the anger building inside you? Been there? Yes, we all have. Trouble is, most of us don't know how to deal with the emotional build up, and so we wait a few days and let the torrent slowly peter out to nothing. Then we get on with our lives.

This is not what I do. Beware that the advice that's about to come out of me is perhaps poor advice, but it certainly helps me. Let your anger out in one uncontrolled burst. Shout, swear, fucking punch the wall, and don't stop until it's all gone and you have no fight left. Now the real training begins. Depending on your personality it will take a while to build up the amount of emotion you just discharged. Once it's all been built up, it's time to release it. This time, however, don't just let it out uncontrollably. Use it to focus on a set task. It can be anything - Running faster than you've ever run, pulling off an insane skateboarding trick, beating your high score on Monkey-Ball, painting a picture, writing a story, whatever.

Use your anger to fuel you. Where you would have converted emotion into physical energy before, try to balance out the raw physical power with a strong focus. I'm sure a lot of you will be confused as to what I mean, or even the point I'm trying to make. Just keep going and you'll see my point.

Human beings can accomplish virtually anything. However, they usually accomplish the best things when they're incredibly focussed, often by channelling their anger. Think about a soldier. Here's a man that is loaded with a gun and sent into battle, from where he could possibly never return. How's he gonna feel? Scared. By converting that fear to anger or even hatred, he achieves a sense of focus that will improve his aim and give him determination to exert himself physically far more than he ever has. If the fear is left unchanged, the solder is left a gibbering wreck and no use to anyone.

OK, so the metaphor may not be perfect, but you get the impression. And if you don't have anything to focus on, then stick to the raw energy release. You'll be amazed at the euphoria that comes after 4 hours screaming.
