Apache Indian Bread


3 cups of flour

1 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of baking powder


Mix these ingredients, add water settle at time until it becomes doughy, if it becomes sticky add more flour. Roll to 1/4 inch thick with rolling pin. Fry in skillet with melted lard 1/4 inch deep until golden brown. Top with honey.

Indian Bread


2 cups of flour

1 teaspoon of salt

1 teaspoon of baking soda

3/4 cup of milk

1/4 cup of melted Crisco

Hot fat for frying, 375 degrees


Mix flour, salt, and baking powder. In small bowl mix milk and melted Crisco. Pour into dry mixture.

Mixture should be soft but not sticky. Roll into 7 inch circle 1/2 inch thick.

Cut circle in half. Knife slit each piece, fry in deep hot fat until golden. Powdered sugar or honey for topping.

Our Indian Lemon Chip Cake


In a bowl mix

1 Pkg White cake mix (use a plain white cake mix)

3/4 cup water beat 2 minutes

3/4 cup of oil beat 1 minute

1 pkg lemon jello

4 eggs beat 2 minutes

Pour into floured cake pan 8 1/2 x 12

Pour 1 cup of chocolate chips on top of batter

Cook at 350* for 35 minutes or until brown around edges and top done.

Remove from Oven let stand as you make Icing


1 cup of powdered sugar

2 tbs of lemon juice

beat well, pour over cake while warm.


Cover with foil and let stand 2 hour.............ENJOY
