A18 was born in 1969 to Saddle. She was Saddle's second known calf. When she was born, the family consisted of her, Saddle, and her older brother A17.
The year A18 was born, the entire family was captured. Thanks to a deformity, Saddle was released, but A18 and A17 were taken into captivity.
While we aren't entirely certain who A18 became when she was captured, judging by the weight and length for that age group (age 1), and the day of the capture, we can guess.
I'm fairly certain that A18 was a whale named Patches. Assuming that she was Patches, her story continues like this:
Patches, along with her cousin Corky2 and another unnamed whale, who may or may not have been her sibling A17, was sent to Marineland California, where they joined the original Corky, and a male named Orky2. Most likely, all five whales were related.
Soon after, Corky died, and Corky2 took her name.
Sadly, Patches didn't last long in captivity. Less than two years later, in August 1971, she died of salmonellosis.
