A7 was born around 1927. We don't know who her mother was, because by the time the study began, she was already around 46 years old. She was identifiable by the three nicks on her fin.
A7 must've had a few kids, but the only one that we know of that survived was Stripe (A23).
A7 probably gave birth to Stripe around 1947, when she was about 20 years old.
Around 1964, Stripe gave birth to her first known calf, Corky. A7 was a grandma! Three years later, Stripe had her second known calf, A21.
Then, in 1969, the family was captured. A7 lost her granddaughter Corky, who was taken into captivity. She and the rest of the family were released.
In 1971, Stripe had her third child, son Okisollo. Two years later, A21 died, possibly because he/she was hit by a ferry.
For the next 4 years, Stripe, Okisollo, and A7 traveled together with the rest of A5 pod.
Then in 1977, A7 passed away, the first A5 pod matriarch to die during the study.
