Fife was born in 1992, to Stripe. His dad is Nigei (R3), which means he has two half-siblings on his dad's side: Nahwitti (A56) from A4 pod, and Foster (A26) from A5 pod. This doesn't really matter to the whales, but I find it interesting lol.
When he was born, his family was made of Stripe, older brother Okisollo, and 11-year-old sister Ripple. The year after he was born, Ripple gave birth to A63. Sadly, the calf died, and the family was back to four.
When Fife was 8 and 9, his mom and then his brother died. Suddenly Ripple was in charge of her brother and Midsummer.
Fife was reaching maturity, and he helped his sister care for his niece. In 2002, he and Ripple and Midsummer also helped take care of the orphan whale Springer.
On July 27, 2003, Fife was hit by a boat propeller. His entire side and fin were scarred with long, very visible marks. By 2004, he was well healed, and in 2005 he showed up healthy and very easily identified.
Now, Fife is 13 years old and beginning to spout. The marks on his side are very visible proof that we should all be very careful around these creatures.
