1/2 c | Boiling Water |
1 3/4 c | Flour |
1 t | Baking Powder |
1/2 c | Shortening |
2 | Egg Yolks |
3/4 c | Sour Milk |
1/2 c | Cocoa |
1 t | Baking Soda |
1/2 t | Salt |
1 1/2 c | Sugar |
1 t | Vanilla Extract |
2 | Egg Whites |
Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Sift together dry ingredients.
Cream sugar and shortening.
Add egg yolks, sour milk and water; mix well.
Add dry ingredients.
Beat egg whites until stiff and add to mixture.
Blend; don't beat.
Pour into greased loaf pan and bake 25 to 30 minutes.
It is done when a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean.
