My Concert Experience
I got to go to the Monkees concert in Burlington, Iowa on June 17th!!  It was my early birthday present from my mom and dad and of course thats who I went with! We stayed at my aunt's house cuz' she only lives 70 miles from Burlington! It was at the Steamboat Days there, and there were other bands playing there too on different nights but the Monkees on Sunday night was the only one that we wanted to see! So when we got there Sunday afternoon we couldn't really find a place to park but we finally parked along the sidewalks out in the street and walked to it! So we bought our tickets and waited around for them to let us in where the stage was at! So it came about 5:00 and thats when they let us in to set up chairs where we wanted so we got to sit about 100 feet away from the stage! And the show wasn't even suppose to start til 8:00 so we got up and walked around and we went and bought souviners, so I got: two t-shirts, a stuffed monkey with a shirt on that has a pic of Peter, Davy, and Micky on it, a tour book, and a color pic of the guys which I couldn't get signed cuz' they had to go somewhere else that night and they didn't have time for autographs! After I got all that we took it back out to our van and got umbrellas cuz' it started lookin' rainy out! And it rained but then it got worse and started lightening out so they started covering all the instruments up and lowering the stage top so we had to wait two hours in the wind and rain before it all just stopped completely at 10:00 and they could finally start uncovering things and get ready for the show to start! And what a great show it was!! They played: The Monkees Theme song (which when they walked out on the stage they did the "Monkee Walk" to it!) Last Train to Clarksville, Look Out Here Comes Tomorrow, I'm a Believer, Daydream Believer, A Little Bit Me A Little You, Valleri, The Girl I Knew Somewhere, Steppin' Stone, Pleasent Valley Sunday, Goin' Down, Randy Scouse Git, She Hangs Out, I Wanna Be Free, Mary Mary, For Pete's Sake, Your Auntie Grizelda, Listen to the Band, and they also did some solo songs too, cuz' Micky sang a song his mom used to sing in the 1940s called "Since I Fell For You" and Peter did Little Richard's song "Lucille" and Davy did a Boyce and Hart song! Oh and they all three did the song "Higher" together!  My mom and I sang to every song and also ran around and took pics too and I should have those up on here in a while but it won't upload them! Grrr! LOL! But it should later so I will try then to to upload them! But we took three rolls of film! Thats 70 pictures! And towards the end of the show they had fireworks out to the side above the water (which was the Mississippi River) and finished up the show by playing the Monkees Theme song again and walking out doing the "Monkee Walk" again too! LOL But it was so cool and I had alot of fun! It was definitely worth the wait in the rain! ;)
