1. Combined the Monkees first four albums on Colgems, (The Monkees, More of the Monkees, Headquarters, and Pisces, Aquarius, Capricorn, and Jones Ltd.) were number one on the Billboard chart for thirty one consecutive weeks. From 1966 to 1968, they had six-million selling singles and eleven Top Forty songs. 2. Because of Davy Jones burgeoning celebrity as one of the Monkees, another young British rock singer with the same name who was trying break into the business had to change his name to David Bowie. 3. When the Monkees did a concert tour in the summer of 1967, Jimi Hendrix was their opening act, reportedly the kids didn't dig him and he quit the tour. 4. The Monkees recieved Grammy nominations in 1966 for "Last Train to Clarksville" as Best Contemporary Recording (it lost to "Winchester Cathedral") and for Best Contemporary Group Performance (losing to The Mamas and The Papas'). In 1967 they were nominated for "I'm a Believer" for Best Performance by a Vocal Group and Best Contemporary Group Performance, but lost both times to the Fifth Dimension for "Up, Up and Away". 5. Davy Jones, Peter Tork, and Micky Dolenz made an appearance in the 1995 "The Brady Bunch Movie". 6. Micky auditioned for the part of Fonzie on "Happy Days". 7. Mike and Peter were the only Monkees to have gotten hit with anything while doing concert, Mike got hit with a can of hair spray in the head and had to get stitches and Peter got hit with a banana! 8.
