Hilda Marie Christensen

Hilda was the youngest surviving child of Anders and Marie. She was born at Stoney Creek on 20 May 1882. She remained living with her father and older siblings after her mother's death in childbirth on 13 March 1885. By this time, her older sister, 'Annie' (Martha) was fifteen, and she raised her younger sister, including taking her along when Annie herself married.

Hilda married Sidney Davies and the couple produced a daughter, Neroli. Following Sidney's death in October 1977, Hilda married a Mr Dixon.

Details relating to Hilda's life have not yet been fully researched.

Although the Christensen siblings were mostly able to keep in contact, Lydia and Hilda never saw each other again after Lydia's fostering by the Larsen family of Mauriceville and her subsequent adoption by the Dahlstroms. However, when Lydia's daughter Vera (McLennan-Boman) eventually had the chance to meet the elderly Hilda in Auckland, she could easily tell that they were sisters. Vera regretted that the two had been denied the chance to meet.
