TOPIC: MOVIES.
Do you watch very many movies? What rules does your family have for the type of movies you watch? What do you think are good guidelines for movie-watching?
When I want to see a movie that has just come
out, my parents like to view it before I am
subject to whatever Hollywood has come up
with now. The rules or guidelines are pretty
basic: no foul language or sexual content of
any kind. My parents don’t like crude remarks
or similar things. We do not attend many
movies at the movie theater, we wait until they
come out on video before we watch them, it’s
alot cheaper!! And that way we can skip
through bad parts. For the most part, I think
most of what Hollywood releases is trash.
There’s a verse in the Bible that says: “Finally,
brothers, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is admirable -if anything excellent or
praise-worthy- think on such things.”
(Phillipians 4:8) And I haven’t seen anything
come out of Hollywood recently that qualified.

I watch 2-3 movies a week, usually. The rules
of our movie-watching are basically, if it’s
above PG, either our parents have to have seen
it already or they need to be there with us
when we watch it. I think the best guidelines
would be: if the movie doesn’t have a good
point or moral -any more than a PG- it
shouldn’t be watched.

The movies a person watches reveal not only their standards
but their heart’s condition to the things of God.
