Cicero, Ad Atticum 10.17.3, tells us that the vernal equinox in 705 A.U.C. = 49 was around a.d. XVII Kal. Iun., which must therefore be in late March 49. Given a 90 day intercalation in A.U.C. 708 = 46, it is not possible to intercalate any months in A.U.C. 706 or 707, each of which must therefore be 355 days long.
Since the Julian dates of A.U.C. 708 = 46 are known, this result fixes the Julian dates of A.U.C. 706-707 = 48-47.
