Livy 28.11 notes that the new consuls were delayed for some time in going on campaign since they have been instructed to return plebeians to their farms, now relieved of the Carthaginian threat. The consuls eventually went on campaign at the "beginning of spring", which must correspond to mid Aprilis or later.
There were 4 intercalations between A.U.C. 547 = 207 and A.U.C. 564 = 190, the most recent year whose dates are certain, and 2 between A.U.C. 551 = 203 and A.U.C. 564 = 190. The following table gives the possible date ranges for Id. Apr. A.U.C. 548 assuming 2-4 intercalations between this year and A.U.C. 564 = 190.
Number of Intercalations Number of intercalated days Julian date of Id. Apr. A.U.C. 548
A.U.C. 548-5642 44-46 14-16 April 206
3 66-69 22-25 March 206
4 88-92 27 Feb - 3 March 206This datum is too vague to discriminate between 3 and 4 intercalations, though perhaps it tends to favour 3. However, 2 intercalations can clearly be excluded. Hence there was at least 1 intercalation between this year and A.U.C. 551 = 203.
