Irish Spring Stole

Materials needed:  approx. 6 ozs. of worsted weight acrylic, shade of green, small amount of white or off white to complement green, size G hook, yarn needle

Row 1:     With green, chain 240.   Sc in 9th ch from hook, * ch 3, skip 2 ch, sc in next chain.  Repeat from * across. Turn.

Row 2:     Chain 5, sc in next loop.  *Ch 3, sc in next loop.  Repeat from * across. Turn.

Repeat Row 2   36 more times.(Rows 3-38).  At end of Row 38, do not turn. 

Edging:  In each loop down side work (sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc).  Working along width (long side)
in each chain loop, work (sc, ch 3, slip stitch in 3rd chain from hook, ch1).

For Large Roses(make 4)


Rnd 1:      With white, chain 4. Join with a slip stitch to form ring.  Chain 2, work 10 dc inside ring.  Join with a slip stitch to the top of first dc (not chain 2). (pull length of beginning yarn taut to close hole in center)

Rnd 2:     Chain 1, sc in each dc around.  Join.

Rnd 3:     Ch 1, sc in 1st sc, * chain 2, skip 1 sc, sc in next.  Repeat from * around.  Join

Rnd 4:     In each chain 2 loop work (sc, hdc, dc, hdc, sc).  Do not join.

Rnd 5:     Chain 3,(working behind petals of Rnd 4,  *sc in next unworked sc on Rnd 3, chain 3.  Do not join.

Rnd 6:    Ch 1, in each chain 3 loop work (sc, hdc, 3dc, hdc, sc)  Joiin with a lip stitch to 1st sc of first petal on this round.  Fasten off, leaving several inches for sewing. 

smalll flowers (make 8)

Rnd 1:     Chain 5, join with a slip stitch to form ring.  In ring work (slipstitch, ch 2, 3 dc, ch 2, skip stitch)  5 times.  As you make  each petal, push to the right as far as you can.  Join with a slip stitch to first slip stitch.  Fasten off, leaving several inches of yarn for seing.


Leaves  (make 6)

Chain 7, sc in 2nd chain from hook, hdc in next 2, dc in next 2, work 7 trc in last ch, now working on other side of beginning chain work dc in next 2 chs, hdc in each of the next 2 chs, sc in same ch as beginning sc, ch2, join with a slip stitch to top of beginning sc.  Fasten off, leaving several inches of yarn for sewing.

Divide flowers and leaves equally between sides, and sew over trellis ends randomly.
