What you need: 1 can with lid (size of can depends on how much you are willing to give God!--large coffee can is good!
glue, and paper., wrapping paper, tissue paper, and so on!
things to decorate with..., stickers, felt, stencils, old greeting cards
scissors
Do any writing on the paper before you glue it to the can!
glue lid to can, paper over can and lid, decorate. Cut a wide enough slit in lid for folded paper to pass through easily.
You may want to glue a post-it note style pad to the side of the can. When YOU can't ......write it on a scrap of paper, slip it through the slit, and remember....God can!
felt or construction paper in the following colors.....
black, red, white, yellow, blue and green
fabric glue (or needle and thread)
scissors (pinking shears)
cut felt into 1 inch squares
stack squares in this order:
black (sin)
red (blood of Jesus)
blue (baptism/cleansing)
white (free of sin)
green (new life in Christ)
yellow (crown of gold)
and sew at one edge
you can also make braclets by braiding ribbon or yarn or by stringing beads onto lacing.
plastic eggs
inexpensive little things representing the crucifixtion and resurrection of Jesus
like crosses, fish symbol,s pieces of white or purpe cloth, little nails, little rings of barbed wire for thorns,
if you can't find the little crosses or fish symbols, you can use chenille stems to make them
place one trinket in each egg and replace the traditional 'fertility eggs' of Easter with something meaningful)
strawberry basket plastic cut into cross shapes
5 squares high and 1 wide, 3 wide at arms (or bigger if you wish)
plastic sewing needle (yarn or tapestry needle...big )
colored yarn or ribbon
scissors
cut length of ribbon about 6 inchis long or to desired length, weave ribbon through squares with needle lengthwise, cut another shorter length of ribbon (about 2 inches) and repeat across arms of cross.
