Just Desserts Part Two:

"I just came down here for a morning martini and this is what I find!!!!!!" Ruth stood in the middle of a flooded kitchen.

"Well, Good Night Nurse." Mike responded.

"Will you stop that and help me clean this up?" She demanded.

"How?" He looked befuddled.

"Get the water out!" She screamed, "I have a party in a few days!!!"

"I’m doing the best I can!!!" Mike called from the telephone, "Yes, this is Michael Sloan, and I need someone to help me with the flood in my house."

"I’m sorry sir. You’re not the only one whose house is flooded after the rain last night."

"I pay good tax dollars. I expect some service!" Mike demanded.

"I’m sorry, sir. You’ll have to call back after eleven."

"Ruth!" Mike slammed the phone down. "We need to get that door fixed! If it hadn’t blown open during the night, we never would have had this problem!"

"Great party, Ruth." Mrs. Jacobson approached Ruth during her dinner party on Saturday.

"Thank you." Ruth pasted on a fake smile.

"You know, I’ve been eating that shrimp, and wherever did you find it? It’s marvelous!" Mrs. Jacobson marveled over the shrimp.

"Mrs. Jacobson, did you see our new Packard?" Ruth quickly changed the subject.

"I did. It sure is beautiful. But not half as beautiful as the mink coat my Timothy just bought for me." Mrs. Jacobson smiled and walked away.

"Michael." Ruth approached her husband who was looking out the window.

"What is it, Ruth?"

"I want another mink coat."

"Why in heavens name do you want another Mink Coat? You’ve barely worn the other one." He took a sip of his expensive scotch.

"You’re giving me a headache. Can you please get me a martini?" Anger was beginning to appear in her tone.

"Certainly."

"Thank you." She graciously took the martini from him when he returned.

"That sure is a nasty storm brewing out there." Mike commented.

"But not bad enough for our guests to go home. We need to keep these people entertained. Come on." She took Mike’s arm and was about to walk away when Gloria approached her.

"Mrs. Sloan, Mr. Sloan." Gloria acknowledged.

"What is it, Gloria?" Ruth was extremely annoyed.

"Something is wrong in the kitchen."

"What is it? I don’t have time for this."

"Mrs. Sloan, your stove blew up."

"What????!!?!?!?" Mrs. Sloan screeched.

The room fell to a silent hush. The deathly silence of the room, was interrupted by a loud crack of thunder and a tree branch breaking through the picture window, followed by loud shrieks from speechless women.
