He married Ruth, daughter of Sheldon Thomas, of Arlington, Bennington County, Vermont. She was born at Litchfield, Litchfield County, Connecticut, 21 July 1788, and died at Hartford, New York, 22 August 1862. Ruth was living with her son Harvey in 1860.
The family settled at Arlington, Vermont, where they lived until 1808, when they moved to Hartford, New York. Both are buried in Old Hartford Cemetery.
