Aaron was in a terrible accident on May 13, 2001. He had been drinking andwas driving home when he missed his turn. Attempting to cut the wheel, his car rolledand threw him through the windshield. His head hit the pavement causing a severebrain injury and almost completely taking off the heel of one foot.
He was in a coma for nearly 6 weeks. The pressure in his brain so high causing it to swell terribly. After the first 2 weeks the Doctors had almost convinced his mother it was hopeless and if he did survive he wouldn't know anyone or anything. While trying to make a decision, his pressure started coming down on it's own. And heslowly started making small progress.
Aaron has just recently stared talking. Very soft words because it takes so much energy. He is writing some, not real good but he is writing! And he is in a rehab that involves the help and therapy of a golden retriever named Bailey.
Aaron still has a very long road to complete recovery. But I think he can and will be successful. Thanks to all of your thoughts and prayers. I am so grateful to have found people like all of you. I also want people to look at Aaron and see what can be the result if we drink and drive. I know I have rethought the past and found how very lucky I am to still be here.So please show Aaron to everyone you love and tell them to rethink it before getting behind the wheel after drinking! This is something no parent ever wants for their children or anyone they love! And remind them how important it is to Always wear a seat belt. A lot can be avoided!!
