Some of the other more popular tricks of the day were to kill people in the moat.
Killing people in the moat is still common practice, but the methods have changed
slightly. Losing link and waiting for someone to arrive then relogging and
slaughtering them was not one bit uncommon. The trolls under the bridge were, without
a doubt, Circle of Power members. Phoenix sometimes gave the Circle of Power
a run for their money, and other clans since then have taken over this position.
Phoenix guarded the moat for some time, letting only those who seemed worthy
of getting into the Proving Grounds in. Enigma added their own unique twist
to the gatekeeper ritual. Taxes. All who entered the moat either paid taxes,
which were usually quite unreasonable, or they risked severe injury. Even some
who paid the taxes faced the wrath of Enigma and experienced the severe injury
themselves. Through time Circle of Power had more adventures, but eventually their heyday ended. Players faded away. Phoenix established themselves as the most respected clan (which is arguable, as is anything else) and accumulated more heroes than any other clan. Dallben had been given the position of leader in the clan as everyone began to go their separate ways. The inactive Circle of Power was not impressive, and sometimes was criticized by those who had seen its power. Soon Dallben himself became inactive. Because there was nobody around to really record this portion of Circle of Power's history, the details remain fuzzy. Sorcha, Ampersand, Fizzboker, Supernaut, and occasionally others were the only ones to play. It was Supernaut who took the initiative at this point to contact Dallben and ask for changes to be made. The changes that were made were not what Supernaut had expected. The clan was placed in his hands. He made a few attempts at recruiting. Burdette eventually came along and was granted power to lead the clan as well, but he failed to rebuild in the same way those before him had. Changes needed to be made, but by whom? The answer, my friends, was Bass. Bass was asked by Dallben to rebuild the clan. He began recruiting new members based on how active they were and how promising they seemed as people. Not by their level or their PKing ability. This began a whole new era. The clan was weak in comparison to many of the other clans, but it was active. During this time of weakness the PK flag stayed firmly in position. Bass, who was in some strange manner linked to (arguably...) the most colorful player in the game, Cello. He also had a frighteningly close tie to TeX. Soon enough Bass disappeared and Lostar was born. The similarity between Bass and Lostar was shocking. It would almost lead one to think they are the same person... Lostar lead the clan through its time of weakness until he thought it was strong enough to stand for itself. At this time, Deep was given the clan leader position. Deep seemed to have the most ties to lower level active players and thus made her the obvious choice as leader. Caeld, one of the first core of Circle of Power members made his return around this time as well. Together they rebuilt the clan into a strong family. Newer members began to show their strength and value as clan members. Talia, Asterisk, Mistayia, Mariee, and eventually Lothar came along and stayed for the long haul. Others came and went. Kelee, Conway, Whisp, Mentak, and Alki spent their time in Circle of Power but left for various reasons. Some for other clans, and more specifically, certain people in other clans. Husbands, wives, etcetera. |
