Judge James L. Eiffert was elected Circuit Judge in 1988 and re-elected 1994. He is the Presiding Judge for the 38^th Judicial Circuit. He has a J.D. degree from University of Missouri-Columbia (1970) and a B.A. degree from Southwest Missouri State University (1967). Prior to his election as Circuit Judge he was in private practice in Ozark, Missouri, during which time he served as Christian County Prosecuting Attorney (1973-1974) and Ozark City Attorney (1976-1988). He has been a member of the Missouri Sentencing Advisory Commission since 1994. He is a graduate of the National Drug Court Institute Judicial Training and, in addition to his other duties, is the Drug Court Judge in Christian and Taney Counties
