August 2003 Edition
Its been
an interresting month and a lot of changes and additions since the last
time I took quill and ink to this decorative little rence paper.
I feel
sorry for the men charged with reading my handwriting and converting it
to
a legible and understandable document.
In any event, Laura welcomes a few new members and hopefuls this month.
First up is Talan, of the Caste of Physicians. He did bring a slave with him but I've heard she's pulled a disney trick. He is a healer and will probably take over the physicians office once he has more time to devote.
Second brings Syn DaFoe, of the Caste of Builders. She is now a full citizen, is in charge of the newly built South Shore Shipyard. It recieves wood from the logging camp on the west end of the Laura territory (see Maps). Hopefully it will kick out some good ships and get her some good commissions.
Next brings us Andaran, of the Caste of Warriors. He saved Syn DaFoe in the Crossroads and the two are now intended to each other for Companionship (date TBA). He accepted Citizenship as my debt repaid to him for saving one of the City's citizens from capture.
This last month also brought U/us a new possible addition. Jon Stark and his slaves tana {JnS} and alexi {JnS} came in by tarn one night asking about mercenary and tarnsman positions. It should be interesting to see how it all turns out.
Avita, the woman of the late Desdecado, who died in a death spar with one of Scagnar, has decided to become a citizen of the City and placed her lips upon the homestone as I was writing this missive on the first day of the fourth hand of the fifth month (august 3rd). She has also taken the treasury position and readied it for general use. This will be yet another way that the commerce in Laura should take off like a flight of tarnsmen.
A woman by the name of Niata has arrived from abroad and is under the protection of Laura by request of Avita of Laura. We don't know much about her yet, but time changes everything. Hopefully she stays a while and enjoys the ummmm....trees and ummmmm....water.
With the growth of the City at present it hopefully will not be long before we can hold the election for Council Members. Whenever we have 10 active Free Members we'll hold that event. More information will be available through our message board.
