This letter is to inform you that our class will be starting a unit on Robotics in two weeks time. This is a great opportunity for your children, as they will be engaged in problem solving exploration promoting critical thinking, building and programming skills in collaborative groups.
Robotics education fits into the curriculum in multiple ways. Children will be drawing deeply from the math and science curriculum, as well as making connections in Social Studies and Health. This program also helps us reach our Technology goals.
Students will be working with a package called Robolab, which has been collaboratively created by Lego, MIT, National Instruments, and Tuffs University. You can find out more about this program at the following web sites.
Even better, we would love parents to join our class for this project, to learn with us about robotics and to help groups. We welcome everyone to come by, you do not need to make a commitment to the whole unit. If you are interested, please read the attached sheet on how to effective volunteer in a robotics classroom. We hope to see you! We will be working on Robotics Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.
Sincerely,
Ms HM and Miss R
