DIVISION 4 (4th level) 1928/29

Division 4 has always been the highest regional level in Sweden with the
districts ("län" in swedish) as base. Up to and including 1986 it was the fourth level,
from the 1987 the fifth and from 2006 the sixth level. Most of the
districts have had their series named division 4 but Stockholm for example named
it Klass I. For the most northern part of Sweden it was a little bit more
complicated. There the districts cooperated and formed Norrländska Serien. From
the late twenties until the 1951/52-season Norrländska Serien is to be
considered division 4 (4th level). For logistical reasons was the winner of the
northernmost Norrländska serien group (from 1935/36) never promoted to division
3 (3rd level). After the incorporation of the series in the rest of the swedish
pyramid it became division 3 (3rd level).
The tables for division 4 and below are to be found (with a few rare exceptions)
only at the respective districts footballing headquarters. So it will take some
time to collect. I will start with Norrländska serien and see how goes from
there.
