Here are some fantastic images from a trip I took in the summer of 2000 to the mountains of Telluride, CO: On my first hike, we went up through a beautiful Rocky Mountain valley, complete with such standards as a stream, |
a flower (name unknown - sorry!),
r
and a mountain waterfall.

On the second day, we traveled to the old Tom Boy Mine, a few thousand feet above the town. To get there, we had to ride up a narrow, dirt mountain road, some of us in less than comfortable positions!

After ditching the truck (for fear of bursting a tire and plummeting to our collective doom) we began our trek up the oh-so-well-kept road (note the remnants of the old wooden berm).
But, as with most arduous tasks in the Rocky Mountains, we were well-rewarded for our endeavors. The ruins of the Tom Boy Mine and the vistas afforded to those who make it up there are magnificent sights. Shown here are the valley and waterfalls leading up to the mine,
some outlying buildings perched on the cliff edge,

and the ruins of the mine itself.

On the third day, my cousin Bob and I decided to do what everyone visiting the Rockies should do - scale a peak. So, off we went - for 9 1/2 hours! On the way to the top, we stopped for a breather at this scenic overlook.

Near the summit, we were treated to near alien landscapes.

and then continued on our ascent. Hi Bob!

Finally, we were there.

And, Bob got his photo-op!
