*gasp* Yes, I'm reviewing another 'fic. Stick with me here.

Ahem...

Normally, I wouldn't touch anything written by Ayiana with a ten-foot pole, simply 'cause she's an S/J 'shipper. *shudders* The good news: I didn't know this when I came across her lovely little missing scene/logical explanation set in season nine. I know a lot of folks are ticked about Jack O'Neill not being the big cheese on the show anymore and what-not... yadda. I like Cam, and I like the way Cam and Daniel interact.

Another recent convert to the fandom, Ayiana (the artist formerly known as "Pixie" to the JAG fandom) has captured the spirit of this new friendship beautifully... and nipped some of Cam's hyperactive go-get-'em tendencies in the bud!

Highs: Daniel's description of the team as "the luckiest bunch of misfits" sums up SG-1 perfectly, as well as his pegging Cam's exuberance and over-achiever antics as trying too hard to fit in with SG-1, rather than finding his own niche... well, on his own. Then there's blue Jell-O and the threat to gang up on Carter!

Lows: 6 KB. Too dang short. I wanted this scene to be the wrap-up to an adventurous spiel in which Cam gets the whole team into trouble before the jumbled-up-mess-known-as-SG-1 can get out of it. If I want to be nitpicky trying to find something else wrong with it... well, occasionally there's a misplaced punctuation mark or slightly incorrect grammar. But as Daniel says, "none of us are perfect". (Which, technically, should be "none of us is perfect", but it's colloquial so I'll allow it. This time.)

Final analysis: Excellent characterization and a well thought-out explanation for Mitchell's erratic and reckless behavior throughout season nine. Hopefully, Ayiana will consent to write more gen 'fic (and Daniel/Cameron friendship 'fics) in the near future so that a "noromo" like me can enjoy them.
