Okay, this is the place for the truly bizarre and inspired in the world of clockwork propulsion. Clockwork Electric Locomotive
Rob Kulman installed a Marx clockwork mechanism in an American Flyer electric locomotive body. A touch of irony or revenge of the springs? You decide.
Rail Zeppelin
I picked this up at a model railway show in early 2006. It is a reproduction Schylling tinplate toy sold under the Lionel banner. This delightful item is O gauge, and the rear propeller spins as it rolls down the track. Great fun!
Ernie Noa's Tram Locomotive
Ernie Noa decided to built a tram locomotive. A tram locomotive to be built very quickly. Take one empty one gallon alcohol can, a pair of tin snips, a vintage Marx clockwork motor, a bit a brass stock and you got a tram locomotive. Absolutely delightful and wonderfully creative!

Movie Camera Motive Power
Kevin Strong took the clockwork mechanism out of an old Super 8 movie camera and mounted it on a gauge 1 freight car truck. He added a couple of sprockets and some ladder chain to complete the drive train. I very simple clockwork powered "thing". The neat thing is you never loose the key... it is built in to the side of the spring housing and folds neatly away.
It makes you wonder how many other old Super 8 movie cameras are lying in the back of closets, awaiting such a similar fate!
Clockwork Outboard
A clockwork outboard motor on vintage wooden toy boat. Okay, I know it is not a train, but I could not resist this (besides, some people have ponds with their garden railways!).
