This Phoenix mini-DVD, made of silica glass launched in August 2007 on its way to Mars on the spacecraft Phoenix, is seen in this undated publicity photograph. It is encoded with a collection of scientific and science-fiction texts about Mars, depictions of Mars in art and messages to future settlers of Mars. Also included are 250,000 names of Planetary Society members and others who signed up \ to send their name to Mars.

NASA's Mars Phoenix Lander can be seen hanging from its parachute as it descends to the Martian surface. Shown here is a 10 kilometer (6 mile) diameter crater informally called "Heimdall," in this image captured from Nasa's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter May 27, 2008. The small science probe blazed through the salmon-colored skies of Mars on Sunday, touching down on a frozen desert at the planet's north pole to search for water and assess conditions for sustaining life, NASA officials said.

This color image, released by NASA on May 26, 2008, shows the American flag and a mini-DVD on the Phoenix Mars Lander spacecraft's deck, which is about one meter above the Martian surface. The mini-DVD from the Planetary Society contains a message to future Martian explorers, science fiction stories and art inspired by the Red Planet, and the names of more than a quarter million earthlings.

This is certainly a coincidence, but I consider it a nice coincidence.

On May 20, 2008, I wrote in my ex-senior high school friends mailing list the story about my high school experience of being in the same bus for the first time, continued by walking along, with a girl named Marilisa, but without any words from my mouth, then she continued with SMS. Although the term SMS sounds like today’s SMS message by phone, but actually what I meant was the name of the bus.

In the seventies there were some Dodge buses operated in Jakarta, each had different name and color according to the route. The SMS bus were blue in the body and white on top.

It was then followed by the news of NASA’s Phoenix Mars Lander spacecraft landed successfully in the first-ever touchdown near Mars' North Pole on May 25, 2008. The name of planet Mars is a little bit like related with the name of my old friend Marilisa that I mentioned in that story.

What becomes more interesting was when on May 29, 2008, to support this Mars story I browsed the internet to find related photos, and there was a photo of Peter Smith of the University of Arizona that seem like related with my other letter that day. The letter was a joke about a song from D’Massive, an Indonesian group band, with their latest hit "This Love Is Killing Me".

In that joke I wrote about "si Kapmu", that sounds like someone’s name though originally in the song it was an Indonesian word "sikapmu" which means "your attitude". Then when I browsed the Internet, there was a photo of Peter Smith from the University of Arizona pointing his finger to his cap.

And last but not least, of course Fuk Li the manager of NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory Mars Exploration Program does not necessarily reflect my activity with Marilisa.
