The Wayward Groom

Lady Minty giggles. "Want to meet what has to be the strangest thing I've ever found while hunting for more ponies to add to the herd? Check this out."

She gallops off and returns a minute later carrying a young man in a snazzy tuxedo on her back. "Look!" she cries as he dismounts. "It's my very own groom!"

The groom waves hello.

"Isn't it kind of sad?" Minty muses, looking at the groom. "He apparently came off of someone's wedding cake -- I guess that marriage didn't go too well. And somehow, he ended up in a fast-food toy bin at an especially grungy flea market. When I saw him, I knew I couldn't just leave him behind. So I brought him home. Imagine that -- I found a husband at the flea market for a quarter!" Minty laughs.

"Seriously, though, he comes in handy around here," she continues when she gets her giggles under control. "After all, every stable needs a groom! Although, I suppose that would usually imply another type of groom... But flea market shoppers can't always be choosers."

You inquire about the name of the groom. At first, you ask the groom himself, but he only shrugs and smiles. So you turn to Minty.

"I haven't decided on a name for him yet," she confesses. "I just call him The Groom.

"He's good to have around; he's quiet and he doesn't eat too much, and he's always glad to help out with the baby ponies if they start getting rowdy. The only problem is the reaction he gets from some of the more, um, romantic ponies in the herd. Take Heartthrob, for instance. She's always chasing him around and flirting with him. There's just something about a male all dressed up for a wedding that gets to her... Even if the species isn't quite a match." Lady Minty winks.

You tell The Groom that it was nice meeting him. He nods in return. Then he looks across the fields and happens to notice a pink pegasus galloping toward him in a wedding dress. Without a word, he turns and runs in the opposite direction.

"Oh, Heartthrob," Minty sighs as the pegasus rushes by.
