"Sure," Minty says as the two of you stroll through the clover, "here at CloverFlower Fields, we tend to make fun of our newer cousins sometimes. They're very different from us original Little Ponies, and some of them are even a bit strange. Have you visited Demented Daisy at Rainbow Grove? I humor her; we just haven't figured out what's wrong with her yet. And Clever Clover doesn't look like any Big Brother Pony I've ever met, even though he's a boy. "And we try our best to respect others' opinions about the new ponies. Some ponies just flat out don't like them, and that's fine -- there are also ponies who don't like the Sweetheart Sisters, or those little baby ponies with the Beddy-Bye Eyes. "However, I've been noticing an unnatural amount of overly negative feelings toward the new ponies. I've heard opponents of them state that they actually, truthfully hate the 98s. This concerns me greatly, because hatred is not a Little Pony type of emotion at all. "How on earth anyone can claim to be a pony fan and collector and still actually hate any of us is beyond me, although that's just my opinion. Again, dislike is different than true hate. Regardless of what year we were born in, or what mold we happen to have been produced in, we're all My Little Ponies according to Hasbro. However much we don't like Hasbro, we have to remember that if it weren't for Hasbro, My Little Ponies wouldn't exist. How would you like to live in a pony-free world? You don't have to believe this -- but you don't have to be hateful about it, either. "So," she continues, turning toward you, "if you don't like the new ponies, that's your opinion. But if you honestly hate them -- if you're someone who has fanfiction on your webpage about brutally killing the new ponies, or if you're part of a hate campaign against them (and yes, I've seen both of these extreme examples, but I won't give the specifics here) -- if you hate any MLP -- then perhaps you should step back and look at what you're pointing all of that wrath toward. You're wasting your time and energy hating a little piece of plastic with hair. Because that is all we are, at least on your side of the rainbow. You're hating an inanimate object, a little plastic horse. "The original idea of My Little Pony was one of friendship and acceptance. Remember in the MLP movie and TV shows? The ponies didn't care if someone wasn't just like them; they accepted and liked everyone. The bushwoolies, the Grundles... In MLP: The Movie, they even liked the witches when they first saw them; they called them 'cute!' Perhaps occasionally the ponies got angry at one another, or decided they didn't like this or that pony... But didn't things always work out in the end? Wasn't there always a happy resolution? "It's all right not to love every pony that Hasbro ever made. "But to hate the new MLPs, or any MLPs, is to undermine the original spirit of My Little Pony, just as flaming another collector because of their thoughts and opinions undermines that spirit. Let's stop *hating* ponies, and let's stop *hating* those who have other opinions. *Hatred* should be far-removed from MLPs.
"If you disagree, please have the maturity to respect my opinion as I respect yours.
This entire page is just the opinion of CloverFlower Fields."
