THE COALSTOKERS

It began as a lark.

Invited to perform at the 9th annual Hank Snow tribute, long time TV and radio performer Reynolds Aulenback called on his brother Fred, and son in law Scott McKone to put together a make shift band.

Deciding on an off the wall concept, Reynolds "invented" THE COALSTOKERS, three guys in head to toe engineer outfits, performing classic country, bluegrass and folk music.

Opening the show, the trio was overwhelmed by the response and the media was quick to get the scoop on this novel musical act.

The trio, with a vintage 30's - 50's sound captured widespread popularity in no time, and it was due to demand that they recorded an 18 song CD during the spring and summer of 2000. It's aptly title "You asked for it !" and features a mix of classic tunes (vocal and instrumental) and features 3 vocalists, electric bass, Martin acoustic guitar, 6&8 string steels and dobro. 3 tunes feature the late Donald Conrad of Vogler's Cove NS making this truly a collectable piece of musical history. The boys also show their substantial songwriting and arranging chops on 7 of the 18 numbers.

Perhaps The Coalstokers haven't pulled into your town yet, but if you love the sound of Hank Snow, Jimmie Rogers, John Prine, or simply love good music, you'll enjoy the freshness and originality of the Coalstokers.

Copies of the CD or tape are still available and can be shipped to your door - anywhere in Canada or the U.S. Send $23 can. funds for CD or $18 for "digital-direct" cassette to Bonnie McKone RR#4 Bridgewater N.S. Canada B4V2W3
