Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
Theta Kappa Chapter
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the first Greek-letter organization established
by black college women in America, was formed in 1908 at Howard University. Alpha Kappa Alpha
members are 130,000 women united by a bond of sisterhood and a committment to service.
The Theta Kappa Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority was formed at the University of Virginia in 1974.
Since then, over 300 women have joined Theta Kappa and performed hundreds of service projects. These include, visiting
nursing homes, providing tutorial services, counseling area youths, sponsoring scholarships, donating gifts and money to various shelters
and centers, conducting forums on global concerns and many, many others. This active involvement in the University and Charlottesville has earned
Theta Kappa numerous awards and recognitions from the Inter-Sorority Council, the Council of Black Student Leaders and
Alpha Kappa Alpha:
