Boston University, Class of '95
story: I went to the school of engineering and couldn't do math. Commuted 25 miles a day by train and worked full time. Carried my exboyfriend through the first semester and a half, second semester was hospitalized for a hole in my stomach from stress. Hated engineering with a passion and had sexist a-hole teachers who made comments about my hair color (blonde). Got heavily involved in student government and forgot to leave campus into what would have been my second year.
Now making twice what my degreed friends are making. Everyone who left with me are now successful in computers so. Nah,nah,nah...

DAN GLENECK · dgleneck@earthlink.net · http://www.earthlink.net/~dgleneck
University of New Hampshire, Class of '84
excerpt: Started earning money programming micro-computers at end of my Junior year in High School. ...Contintued to work during college. Too much money to be made. So I took a few semesters off to work full time. Went back to U.N.H. for another semester. Founder of GG Systems (a micro-computer systems house) in 1984. Business grew so much that I took a couple of semesters off work full time to make more money. Sold the company to Diagraph Corporation in 1986. Took most of the money and invested it in real-estate. Then in 1988 the economy "slowed-down." Could not afford to continue college -- I knew I'd have to drop out. I took mostly computer classes in this last semester so I'd have most of my requirements. The US government and banks would not give me a loan because I 'owned real-estate', even though I had no cash and could not sell the buildings. I am currently taking some classes at Daniel Webster College.

MARNIE GORDON · mgordon@micron.net
University of Idaho, Class of '95 - (left during third year)
excerpt: I thought about going back a couple times, but found that most graduates in my field at the time (interior design)were working at McDonalds or something equally as glamorous. I decided that wasn't exactly the goal I was willing to invest several thousand dollars and several more years of my time in reaching.
pick: "A relationship got in the way"
future: Now happily re-married with a promising career...

ERIC JONES · jonese@primenet.com · http://www.primenet.com/~ejones/hrhome.html
University of Arizona, Class of 2000 ???
story: I'm still in college as of April 21st. Just getting ready to finish up my spring semester and I'm contemplating starting a business and "dropping out" in the fall. I found this site while doing research for a paper on college drop outs for English. Must say I'm feeling a little bit better about my decision, but don't we all question it!
pick: "I wish I knew"
future: Aw, c'mon, JOIN US!!! DO IT! No, whatever he decides is "alright" - but isn't it cool he wrote a paper about us! (His webpage is called the "Hopeless Romantics" homepage...)

WARREN MANN · broken@sound.net · http://www.sound.net/~broken/
Park College, Class of '97
story: I wanted to take almost every course I saw. I wanted to major in almost every field I studied. I learn better on my own. I hate social settings. I hate doing stuff in the daytime. I am basically comatose prior to 12:30pm. Every single class required for one of my majors was at 8am (5 days a week, of course). I would be much happier as a vegetable that used the moon for photosynthesis. Everything about the socio-economic structure of this society fills me with venemous hatred. When asked on the MIT application, "why should we accept you into MIT?" I answered: "If you do, I won't drop my first atomic bomb on you." With this kind of attitude, I would be committed before I could finish anyway.

ROB MIDDLETON · rob1138@hotmail.com · http://www.earthlink.net/~robmidd
Princeton University, Class of '94, '95, ...and counting...
story: Thrilled to attend Princeton -- freshman year was great -- sophomore year turned ugly (problems with roommates and I got depressed) -- I dropped out halfway through and came back one year later -- then went all the way up to one semester short of graduating and dropped out again! (Want to know something really weird? My father, who has my same name, went to the same school and also left during his senior year.) You could say that once I got off track I was never able to get back on again. Unfortunately, the school didn't help. Despite the fact that I tried to be upfront with them about the problems I was having, there were a few administrators who were downright rude! My biggest passion was running the campus humor magazine, The Tiger, and when my term as chairman was up, that's when I left school...
pick: "Depression got in the way"
future: Writing?

LISA PASSALACQUA · crow@eol-online.com
Central Michigan University, Class of '98
story: I left college because (what the counselors basically said) it would take about 30 years and about 15 class retakes for me to graduate. I hate math and was a business major. Plus in my past college years I had roommates who tried to kill me, themselves, and would take points on how many guys they can sleep with. Now I am a carefree computer technician at Walsh College, which is near Detroit. I find it funny that after struggling for a public, average university, I am now working for a private, exclusive one. I am also currently working on getting my NT certification. I don't have a degree but as of right now I am more successful than most of my friends who graduated from CMU...it only took me two weeks to find a new job also. Isn't life ironic?
pick: "I did not fit the school's mold"
future: Looks fine!
