Dear Sigma Kappa Alumnae Sisters,
You are cordially
invited to join us at our Annual Fall Gathering. This year, the event will be
held at Campo di Bocce in Los Gatos, where we will be challenged to test our
skills at this fun, Italian bowling game. Afterwards, the party will continue
at a local ice cream eatery. Following this letter, you will find details of
this event and to whom you'll need to RSVP.
New members are
welcome, whether you are a recent college graduate, if it has been a few years,
or if you have recently moved into the San Francisco/San Jose/East Bay area.
This afternoon promises to be a good time filled with smiles and laughter among
your Sigma Sisters.
For those of you who
are not familiar with our chapter, I thought I would take a moment to introduce
us. We are the San Jose-South Bay Alumnae Chapter of Sigma Kappa, established
in 1992 when National spoke of re-colonizing at San Jose State. The first
members of our chapter came together to help. Even though the collegiate
re-colonization ultimately did not take place, friendships were made and
sisters were reunited. Since our alumnae chapter began, many new alumnae women
from many chapters around California and the U.S have joined us.
We meet about once a
month, Fall through Spring. We are quite casual and only have "take care
of business" meetings a couple of times a year. We enjoy philanthropic
activities such as the Alzheimer's walk, and bowling, outdoor festivals,
theatre, crafts, murder mystery nights, and bunko are some examples of our
social events. Our chapter also supports the collegiate chapter at UC Berkeley
and local alumnae Panhellenic. The bonds of sisterhood continue through the
sharing of ideas, laughter, and of course, food!
