We survived Y2K, but did we also make it past February 29th...and even more importantly did NORM & DOLORES DUFOUR make it back from their TWO-OH; FIVE-OH; OH-OH trip to Italy? While we wait for confirmation, a picture with the Pope acceptable...the Court will come to order!

Received a quick note from CHARLIE HARRIS that he and MARLAYNE had a real treat on a trip to Miami before Christmas...dinner with THADMIRAL and PAM at the Flag Quarters. And even though he could be just stirring the pot in the attached photo, Chef Thad prepared a hellova meal...and CHARLIE assures us that the bottles in the foreground were for purely medicinal purposes.

We've got Ninety Seven Classmates on-line now.  TERRY ROBERTSON checked in with the following: "Finally got around to sending in my address.  Retired last year from the Navy and am currently employed as the Parish Associate at a Presbyterian church in Leesburg, FL.  Have become active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary.  Am very active in the SCUBA community here.  Have completed Advanced and Rescue Diver.  Currently working on Master Diver.  Hope to have that completed by April 2000."

JAY TAYLOR has finally gone on-line and offers more information on the grueling life of a commercial airline pilot.  "I just returned from Mali, West Africa where I spent time in Bamako, Mopti, and, no lie, Timbuktu. I'll leave in 2 weeks for a 6 day visit to Peru.  In early March I plan to go to Kenya for 2 weeks.  This airline pilot life is tough, but someone has to do it."

TOM MAWHINNEY has posted a new E-mail address and sent along a Christmas update: "Due to a plethora of outstanding student and Plus loans, TOM and SALLY will be working well into their  70s.  Against TOM's wishes, SALLY resigned her post as hospitality chairperson for Rhinebeck High School.  She had enough, as her children are out of the nest, but she continues to attend events and volunteer.  She continues to run a local dentist office getting the Mawhinneys discount drillings.  Dan turned 21 this summer and is finishing his senior year at SUNY Binghamton.  He is an English major and isn't quite sure what he is going to do next year.  He is quite seriously considering his Masters degree in special education (then maybe the Peace Corps). He is a free spirit, captain of the swim team, which is making the transition to Division I this season.  This means much stiffer competition, but a little scholarship money.  Kate turned 18 in October and is a freshman at Marist College in Poughkeepsie.  She is commuting and seems to be enjoying it.  She is majoring in communications/public relations.  She hopes to work in Boston or Manhattan after graduation.  Tom is into his seventh year as Principal of Rhinebeck High School.  No one has nominated him for the MET Principal of the Year yet, but he knows it is only a matter of time.  He is finishing the course work for his doctorate from St. John's in the spring and will take the comps in March.  Thesis seminar starts in the summer."  DOCTOR MAWHINNEY...have to sit down on that one.  TOM continued that he and SALLY celebrated their 25th Anniversary with a trip to Aruba last June.  Even though it never rains in Aruba, they were able to win some money at the roulette table during their four days of showers!  Peace Corps?  TOM and SUSI CLARKE can give you the parents perspective!

Received a quick update from DAN SHOTWELL: "Midge has been in her new position as Assistant Store Director at Super K-Mart for over a year now. She complains some, but I think she really likes it, except for the long hours. And she gets to see such interesting characters.... like "the table pounder" and "Diaper Boy." (Don't ask!)   I finished out last cycling season with 5341.18 miles, but who's counting? I should be able to better that this season, weather permitting.  The airplane's coming along slowly, which may not be a totally bad thing. As long as it's not finished, I don't have to fly it."  DAN, 5341.18 miles, 14.63 miles per day give or take a block or two...when do you find time to work on that airplane in basement?

J. B. WILLIS boondoggled his trip to Miami for THADMIRAL's Change of Command by hitching a ride with the Vice Commandant in CG-02.  JIM sent in this update: "I'm now serving as Deputy Director of Reserve and Training.  This is my 6th 'Training' assignment (including my grad school @ FSU) and I've enjoyed every one of them.  The crowning achievement of all that education and experience will be (I hope) the publishing of the Workforce Performance and Training Strategy which has been two years in the making.  It is a long range strategy for CG Training which consolidates all the recommendations from previous studies and prescribes a 5 year action plan to accomplish those recommendations which have long been ignored because they have never been resourced. I've also managed to squeeze in 4 ships and two 'computer' assignments during my short career.  On the home front, KIM and I celebrated our 26th last September with a couple of weeks in our favorite place---Northern California.  KIM started her own business this year as a Designer and Director of custom arts and education programs.  She is working with a consortium of schools in Southern Connecticut on a multi-cultural program spotlighting Native American culture.  She splits her time between our home in Shepherdstown, West Virginia and our home in Noank, Connecticut. The two of us stay in touch by phone and AOL when she is up North. By the way, NORM SEALANDER provided some good advice on owning a personal business which she dearly appreciated."

Did TERRY say he was working as a Parish Associate?  Sure did...here's a little more background: "I resigned my CG commission in 1981 and went to seminary at Duke Divinity School.  Finished up in 1985, signed up to be a Navy chaplain.  Had assignments in San Diego, Norfolk, Naples (Italy -- NOT Florida), and Beaufort, SC.  I retired last year quietly. No ceremony, no pictures -- just stopped going to work one day! Moved to Norfolk for about 5 months.  My Mom died at Thanksgiving last year here in central FL, so I moved here to help my Dad -- his eyesight is going.  Started SCUBA diving in June, was certified at the entry level in July and went to Bonaire, NA for a week of diving and fun.  Have continued my certifications -- and I am very good at it!  My daughter is finishing her junior year at University of North Carolina and wants to become a missionary to South Africa or Korea when she graduates.  I think I told you that I'm working part-time as the Associate Pastor at a Presbyterian Church and that suits me just fine.  Gives me plenty of time to pursue other interests.  I am active in the Coast Guard Auxiliary and have become the Career Counselor for the Flotilla.  That just means I recruit young men and women to become CGA cadets.  Go figure! Have already done an area-wide college career day, and am scheduled to visit several of the central FL high schools after the holidays. And I'm planning on getting married -- again -- in April, then off to the Caribbean for a week cruise aboard a windjammer and another week at a resort on St. Maartin.  Will send pictures (if any are presentable)."  Wonder if we'll get those pictures in time for the June Bulletin?

BOB OJA reported around with a quick note saying that over the summer and fall the OJA family completed a move to Eugene, OR.  They've bought a townhouse and are still trying to sell their house in Alaska.  BOB's daughter lives in Seattle and we're planning on getting together the end of February during his next visit north.  He's got a new E-mail address...check it out at our Classmates page.

And speaking of Alaska, BRAD TROTH's alive and well.  "Still living in Kodiak.  Doing a little contract accounting, driving school buses, guiding hunting and fishing trips, charter fishing and golfing when the wx allows. Haven't had any problems since the triple by-pass in May '98. Only daughter came home after college grad last spring and got a job teaching 6th graders here.  Since she lives here now, not much sense in going south to the traffic and crowds.  Gotten to be a real hermit up here.  Haven't seen anyone in ages, CHARLEY WURSTER was the CO here several years ago and I think he's the last classmate I've seen."

RON SILVA snuck out of HQ and made a two week visit to PACAREA.  An aggressive schedule...Alameda to Seattle to Hawaii to Alaska, with little free time.  So hectic in fact, that the Hawaiian leg amounted to a flight in on Sunday and a red eye to Alaska Monday night...just barely registering on the boondoggle meter.  RON's two sons are living in Tacoma and he was able to visit with them...and MARY JANE and I got him out to Casa de Swedberg for dinner one night.  Looking forward to RON & BEV visiting this summer.

Guess what I've got in my hands?  A check from Amazon.com for $28.75!  Thanks to all who have used our Class Page to link to Amazon.com and make purchases, particularly the Palm Pilot purchaser.  With Amazon.com expanding it's on-line sales marketing to CDs, videos, electronics, et. al.., there's great potential to add to the Class coffers...visit our site <http://www.oocities.org/CollegePark/Campus/7184>, click the link, and buy on-line!

Have you listened to any Vesica Pisces or Atomicsplit yet?  Didn't think so...but CAP'N BARNEY's rockin': "I've been a "volunteer" disc jockey at WMHB, the local college (Colby) radio station, for the past 6 months. I usually do a 6-8 am show on Fridays, but I'm doing 4 shows a week thru January 9th. The student DJs have been on vacation and we "locals" get to play DJ more often! Havin' a ball! Rock on!!"  Imus in the Morning...don't look behind you, BARNEY's catchin' up!

KEN ROTHHAAR just reported around with an E-mail addition to our Classmates page and a quick update: "JAN and I are still living in Cooper City, FL.  I've been with United Airlines for the past 3 years.  I'm based in Miami and fly the 767/757, mostly to South America.  Both of our boys are in college - Ken, Jr. is a junior at GA Tech and Mark is a freshman at the Univ. of FL."

GORDY MARSH posted an updated E-mail address with a cryptic note about shedding his daughters from his account.  JULIE fills in the details: "GORDON and I have two daughters.  Nicole is 18 and freshman at LSU.  Sarah is 22 and graduated from LSU in December of 99 with a degree in business. She works for an engineering firm in Baton Rouge.  Sarah also got married the day after she graduated from LSU."  I pushed for more details and JULIE responded...and attached the great picture of Sarah signing her wedding license: "Sarah married Lorne Boudreaux of Raceland, LA, which is close to Thibodaux.  The wedding took place on the Enchanted Isle Cruise Ship and the bride and groom sailed off to the Western Caribbean after the ceremony.  The picture features Nicole Marsh, the maid of honor, along with Sarah and Lorne Boudreaux.  They are signing the marriage license with Nicole as the witness.  If we had a good lawyer it would have included a pre-nup!"  Good lawyer...Oxymoron?

Sarah Marsh Boudreaux

Did you call STEVE DECESARE for that primer on island real estate transactions?  If not, now you'll have to reach him on the mainland.  STEVE's moved again, now running the Sharon Co-Operative Bank in Sharon, Mass as the President, CFO, and Director.  Think they reduced his salary by increasing the number of titles!  While he and BETTY ANN wait for the closing on the sale of their island home, he's commuting to Nantucket on weekends and searching the Sharon real estate ads during the week.

Hey Sweds...excuse me, Your Honor...did TERRY say he was getting married?  I wondered if you'd catch that...the rest of his story:  "My daughter's name is Tiffany. She's a Dean's List student -- more than I can claim from CGA days. My soon-to-be wife's name is BRIDGET. She's from VA but works for a medical supply company that allows her to live anywhere near a major airport. Her job has her traveling all over the United States installing medical lab equipment and then training the lab techs on it's use. Frequent Flyer Miles are great!!  [JAY already mentioned that!]  The wedding is April 29th at the Botanical Gardens in Richmond, VA. It'll have a Scottish theme, with a piper (bagpiper, that is), kilts, etc. Then, it's pack the bags and head off to the Caribbean. Pictures will be provided."  TERRY, your classmates are waiting for 'em...we're adjourned!
