Kinz's Spring 1998 Schedule

Curious about what Kinz is taking this semester? Ever wonder what courses a second semester chemical engineer takes? If the answer is yes, then you are at the right place. Below is my weekly schedule, followed by a short description of each class. As always, email me with any questions or comments.

Environmental Studies- This course is about what the title implies. Everything from the world's rapid depletion of fossil fuels, to how best to dispose of everyday garbage is covered in this class. It is taught by two professors with different academic backgrounds, and that allows for a wider exchange of ideas. An enjoyable and informative class.

Physics I- This course is designed to teach the basic physics that all scientists and engineers should know. Beginning with kinematics, and covering through electrostatics, a required course that can be fun if you have a good professor.

Calculus II- This is another required course, and is a continuation of calculus I. Topics covered include advanced integration techniques, parametric and polar equations/graphing, vectors, and infinte series and sequences. MAPLE (a symbolic computer math program) labs are also integrated into the course.

Chemistry of Materials II- This course is probably the hardest of my second semester courses. Aside from covering chemistry II material, the course also gets in depth in material science I/II. The main topics covered are first and second order rate kinematics for reactions, crystal growth, structure and defects, and strength of engineering materials. A very difficult course, that you will also learn a lot in.
