Brain Drain marks the return of the tag team of Justin Hardjowirogo and Clement Law to the suburban moviemaking scene after a hiatus of over three years. No other movie from this veteran team has been so technologically advanced, so painstakingly crafted, or so long in the making.
Faced with big debts and no time, Joe, a med student (played by Kevin Baer) is given an offer he can’t refuse from a mysterious man called Gordo (played by Clement Law). He is offered a one-time job which would allow him to pay off his debts, with some extra to spare. The only problem is that the job entails stealing a brain from an assassination victim. Joe finds himself caught up in a vicious circle as he encounters the assassin, a cold-hearted ‘artist’ called Ice (played by Carmen Janzen).
Carolyn Miller co-stars as Carolyn, Joe’s girlfriend, while Matt White and Andrew Howarth are cast as Gordo’s henchmen, Tremor and Stix. Justin Rebello plays Tsunami, the gangster whose time has run out, with Justin Hardjowirogo rounding out the cast as Johnny Wong, a retired ‘cleaner’ with shady links to the ebbing underworld.
