TOP TIPS ON HOW TO BEST ENJOY
THE TRIP
Learn how to prepare your favourite dish!
Learn a few songs, jokes, or poems, if you’re not already an
expert!
Be prepared to get up earlier than other Sundays!
Prepare yourself for lots of team work!
There are hot and cold showers, flush toilets available.
Provision of fresh water to all parts of the site.
Wood available for cooking. Please use these only within fire
spots.
A FEW WORDS ON FIRST AID
1. REMEMBER THE 6 THINGS-TO-DO IN AN EMERGENCY:
APPROACH, ASSESS SITUATION, SAFETY, GETTING OTHERS TO HELP, DETERMINE PRIORITIES, CALL FOR ASSISTANCE.
2. Wounds & Bleeding:- Carefully remove any small foreign bodies, but never remove anything large in skin. Apply direct pressure, raise limb and support. Hold pad in place with bandage firmly.
3. Nose Bleeds:- Sit down, head forward, pinch soft part of nose, release pressure after 10 mins, repeat of nec. Avoid exertion or blowing for 4 hrs.
4. Cramp:- Sudden involuntary and painful contraction of muscles normally relined by stretching and massaging gently.
5. Burns & Scalds:- Immerse injured part in cold water for at least 10 mins, dry and cover with clean material. Do not break blister, peel loose skin, apply lotion or use adhesive dressing.
6. Hypothermia:- Use waterproof clothing to insulate, give hot drinks and high energy foods.
7. Heat-Exhaustion:- Remove to cool place and slowly replace lost fluids and minerals.
8. Fire-Safety:- a tent takes 15 secs to burn down. Please avoid using matches and lighters around the tent areas. Run out of tent as fast a poss. in the event of a fire.

Gillwell Park, Bury Road, Chingford, London, E4 7QW
HOW TO GET THERE:
Gilwell Park is situated to the north of London on the edge of the
beautiful Epping Forest. Access is easy by road, being a short drive from
either the M25 motorway, or A406 North Circular Road. Chingford BR railway
station offers direct travel to Liverpool Street station in London, offering
connection to the London Underground system, or rest of the rail network.
By Road: From M25. Leave at junction 26 and follow signs towards WALTHAM
ABBEY, proceed to traffic lights at T junction. Turn Ieft at traffic lights
(A 112) . After approx. 2 miles turn left at Pillar Box into DAWS HILL.
Follow the road for about 1 mile, ignoring the entrance at the crest of
the hill. Go past the duck pond on your left the main entrance to Gilwell
Park is on your right.
From North Circular Road (A406): Follow signs to CHINGFORD AND NORTH
CHINGFORD, beside Parish Church turn into STATION ROAD. Pass British Rail
Station (on right) and turn left after petrol garage into BURY ROAD. Gilwell
Park is 1 mile on left.
Underground: Victoria Line to Walthamstow Central then change to British
Rail to Chingford.
NB Gilwell Park is approximately 1 mile (1.5km) from Chingford Station
there is a map in the Station ticket hall.

Please arrange your own means of transportation to the campsite.
We would be grateful of you could bring any outstanding payments along
with you. (Make cheques payable to HSVVN).
Only Saturday evening meal is inclusive. Please make your own arrangements for Sat. lunch and Sunday breakfast and lunch.
