Tour of Wilkinsons |
-
Following consultation with parents, staff and pupils, the Friends of Portland have decided to support improved social facilities for pupils. The bulk of their £1,000 Summer Gift will be spent on furniture, games and social equipment for our Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 Common Rooms.
All schools are currently setting up Home - School Agreements. These are a legal requirement. The Government's aim is to improve the co-operation between home and school. The Agreement does this by setting out what can be expected of the school, parents and pupils.
We are very keen to support the process and will contact you again with details. By September we will have a Portland Home-School Agreement that helps us all.
The Friends intend to organise another Portland Fun Day on Saturday, 3rd July. Once again there will be games, competitions, sports, stalls and refreshments. They hope to make this year's event the best yet.
TOUR OF THE WILKINSON DISTRIBUTION CENTRE
You will be aware that Wilkinsons have established a state of the art distribution centre at Manton Wood in Worksop. They are under constant pressure to allow tours of the centre. Because of this, we feel very fortunate that they have offered a guided tour to the Friends of Portland.
Our tour will begin at 6.30 p.m. on Tuesday, 18th May. The tour will take about one and half hours and includes refreshments.
There will be a token charge of £2 which will be donated to the school.
Numbers will be limited so please return the slip attached to ensure your place.
I hope you can join us.
