September Newsletter

Welcome!

This is the first Friends of Portland newsletter of the new school year, so first of all, a warm welcome to all new parents, Year 7 or otherwise. We aim to support the school by working closely with the staff. Fundraising is an importnat part of what we do but by no means the end of the story. We welcome new committee members or any other form of help you may be able to give us. Read on to see what we have planned for this term.

This term's events:

Tuesday 5th October: Friends Open Evening at 7.30pm

All are welcome, especially new parents, to the first event of the term. This will be an informal evening with refreshments. We hope to inspect the new National Grid for Learning Information and Communication Technology room, which we helped the school refurbish, and to hear more about the National Grid for Learning itself. The agenda for any discussion will be flexible, to accomodate the interests and concerns of all those present, and could potentially include OFSTED and Home-School agreements.

Wednesday 13th October : Business meeting at 7.00pm

All welcome. The agenda is likely to include discussion of how to spend out current funds and the planning of future events.

Christmas Event : Flower arranging demonstration

Details later

Other Events

We shall have our usual presence at the school Open Evening on Thursday 4th November and expect to be involved in providing the refreshments for the production of Grease just before half-term and at the Awards Ceremony on 3rd December.
