Worthy Master-At-Arms - Daniel Lunsford

As the semester draws to an end, I reflect on all the activities in which Phi Delta Chi participated. The fraternity was very active with plenty for members and pledges to do. The pledges took an active role in all the activities of the fraternity and in their own activities. Our new members look to becoming active with one already having attended the Regional Conference in Little Rock, Arkansas.

We had a really wonderful pledge class this year, which was one of the most united and brotherly pledge classes in quite a long while. These new members learned and practiced brotherhood which seemed to be diminishing last semester. However, brotherhood is growing and it is now back to what it was at one time.

Membership will be taking a hit as we lose some members to alumni status. With a good membership drive next semester, I hope to see membership go to an even higher level. Last semester, we started with eight pledges and ended with six members. This semester, we started with seven pledges and ended with five new members.

The initiation went smoothly this semester. We had a much greater alumni response with financial support and initiation attendance. Many members got to participate in initiation activities that many thought were forgotten. Tails and a more relaxed trip to the bat caves made initiation more diverse and a lot more fun. Without alumni, the bat caves would not have been possible.

Next semester looks to be promising with the new WMA taking office. I know their knowledge of ritual and tradition will make them perfect for the office. I just hope we can find out way back to the caves.

I have enjoyed being WMA my last semester and it certainly has made it memorable. Phi Delta Chi has grown closer this semester and looks to grow even more in the upcoming semesters.
