The Gamma Zeta Chapter of Alpha Chi Omega was founded at Kansas State University on March 22, 1947.
The chapter had fourteen charter members and three pledges. Two colonizers, one from Northwestern University and one from Nebraska helped get Gamma Zeta off to a flying start.
When the chapter was installed, several officers from Alpha Chi Omega National headquarters were on hand for the festivities. A banquet was held the night before the chapter's first initiation ceremony at the Wareham Hotel in the Crystal Room. After the actual ceremony, an Initiation Tea was held at Van Zile Hall.
The first Chapter House was located at 615 Fairchild Terrace and now stands as a private residence.
In 1959, the current chapter house was built. The house has since been remodeled a couple of times. In 1980, the new addition was added to the front of the house to add additional living quarters. In 1985, a new roof was added to the structure. The recent renovations started in the summer of 1998 have provided the Housemother's new living quarters, a larger dining room, and a new Informal Living/Rec Room
