National Competition.

Rugby Union, or variants of it has been played in Whitlam for over 100 years. The 10 main groups that made up the population of Whitlam each had their own colours and nicknames for their respective teams, who occasionally met each other on the football field after the people of Old Pent began to unite, playing out rivalries on the playing field instead of the battlefield. Even under Terramarcian rule, rugby continued to be played, even less frequently than before. With the declaration of the Federal Republic of Whitlam, it was decided by the newly formed Whitlam Rugby Union that the old colours and nicknames would be retained, so no one would forget Rugby's proud history in Whitlam.

Central Rats.

Central Rats Jersey.
3rd Class
 Phy.2 Tech.3 HB.4 Off.2 Def.3

Name Central Rats
Year Admitted 298
Colours Green and White
History As the Central state is the political centre of Whitlam, generally, sporting teams that came from Central contained public servants and political workers from all walks of life, especially in the amateur sports like Rugby. Opposition contempt for these players led them to be called the Rats, (a Whitlamite term for a disloyal or cheating politician) Taking the insult on, the players of Central adopted the name, in defiance of their detractors.

History With a major seaport on the coast, and with the team from Hawke travelling to the southern states by sea instead of land, Hawke were destined to be nicknamed the Pirates, they were once feared by many, and arrived by sea. Perhaps those times have gone, but the spirit certainly remains!

Name Helena Archers
Year 298
Colours Black and Red
History The central regions of Whitlam were heavily forested in the years before Terramarcian occupation, but are far less so now, due to the many years of mismanagement. At the time, the team that was made up from the region was known as the Archers, because of their woodland heritage and their skills with precision weapons in wartime. The team now retains this name as a tribute to their origins.
Star Players 13 - Joseph Tapeauffe, 10 - Manuel Dannaforth.

Name Rogers Dirty Reds

Colours Maroon, White
History Early Rugby in Whitlam began with Whitlam still quite isolated, as a result the state of Rogers, and Whitlam as a whole was not heavily involved in trade. As a result the initial qualities of fabric in Whitlam were not very high. This is the reason for the maroon colour of the Rogers team's jerseys today. A reproduction of a poor attempt at a red colouring.
