URGENT ACTION
Send your statement, supporting Human Rights.
- Mexican students of the National University (UNAM) are on STRIKE since
APRIL 20th. · A Mass Media campaign raised against students, giving
spaces to government and university's rectorship points of view, but
not to the ones from the real student groups.
- Different statements presented in Mass Media called them "violent",
"illegal", "commando type" and sometimes stated that forces outside
the UNAM were moving their interests.
- Government's secretary said that "national intelligence" have detected
"leaders" and "commando groups" inside the students' movement, and announced
their support for any legal actions under rectorship's request.
- Mexican Constitution confers any Mexican citizen: freedom of speech,
press, assembly and thought. Therefore, students' actions are within
the law.
UNAM STUDENTS WILL BE SENDING FURTHER REQUESTS.
