Rogue Leader
Where to begin...
Never before in my life have I been witness to and associated with such an incredible group of people as those that volunteered at DecipherCon this year. It is a fact that without you guys and girls DecipherCon could not have flown. But fly it did!
There are so many people to thank for this weekend, but I feel that in trying to list all of you, I will miss someone that I will deeply regret omitting. Therefore, I will only say that for those of you that went above and beyond this past weekend, and you know who you are, my deepest thanks, we will be able to walk away from this and look back on it safe in the knowledge that for four days we were the tightest and best team that this industry has ever seen.
I sincerely wish that I had more time to spend with all of you, and I lament the fact that most of my conversations with everyone were "Can you hold on for a minute... Yes, go ahead... Ok, I'm on it... Can you do me a favour (fill in the volunteer), I need you to..." Thank you for thepatience everyone showed with me this past weekend, and the expertise everyone showed in running their assigned areas. If it hadn't been for the fact that everyone took it upon themselves to make sure things were
getting done, I would have been a mess and it would have killed me (probably an exaggeration).
Some of the highlights for me were:
The Iron Man game between Steve Porth and Joe Alread.
Watching the final confrontations for Worlds in the audience.
Hearing about Juz being duct taped to a chair and having rulings yelled at him.
Walking into "The Big Room" at 7am and seeing Steve Porth demoing Young Jedi.
Aaron Eisenberg yelling "Looks like a big ____"
Thaddeus Chenoweth making it through the weekend.
The betting pool on how long Bruce Umene could stay awake.
Richard Davis always wondering what he could do next.
The awards ceremony.
Greg Heistler wanting to become a Jedi Council Member over a Squadron Member because he felt that he would be more effective there (he's the new Young Jedi World Champion).
All the people that came up to me asking about becoming a volunteer (guess they saw all the fun you guys were having!)
For those of you that couldn't make it, I also want to thank you. For monitoring the web sites and bulletin boards, answering the rules questions for those on the lists. Taking care of our backs. I know that many of you wanted to be there and you were missed. I hope to see you there next year and at the "smaller" conventions this summer like Gen Con.
All in all guys, this was an incredible weekend. I want everyone to try and make it next year because it's only going to get bigger and better!
Thanks so much.
