i caught the end of the 42nd annual grammy awards last night. i have to say, i was pleased to see willie nelson, woody guthrie and john lee hooker get lifetime achievement awards, but come on, christine aguilera (however you spell it) as new artist of the year? oh my god (in my best valley girl voice, k.)

why is it that only seniors and people with dogs go for walks? i think it should be prescribed: 15 minute walk around the block every evening and 10 minutes in the yard every night taking in the moon and stars. therapy for the soul.

maybe i'm feeling a little mean, maybe i'm justly pissed off. here's the situation just as it happened 5 minutes ago. i went to the gas station about 4 blocks away...the same one i go to everyday to pick up my daily pack of cigarettes (a sick habit, i know, but still not the point). normally i have my id with me in my coat pocket and i've shown it to practically everyone there, thus i haven't had to show it for about 3 weeks. needless to say, today there is a new lady behind the counter, but i feel there won't be a problem, since the lady training her has been there nearly everyday and has served me over and over and over again without carding me. well, the lady asked for my id and i said i didn't wear my jacket since it was such a nice day and the other lady had seen it before. the response from the lady who has sold me cigarettes every day for 2 months....no dice. she is training the new girl and even though she knows i am 25 years old she won't let me buy them. i have huge a problem with the inconsistency. people, please. i know, i know, maybe i'm being bitchy, but this is unsettling for me. they'll turn me away, a regular customer, on a technicality. i call it the gas station wench power trip. not everyone who works at a gas station is a wench, but there are a few that pull the additude with me and personally, i am over it. no shopping with them anymore. gas has the same price all over town, so i have no problem driving an extra block to the amoco where the fellow who checked my id 2 months ago speaks up to his co-worker that i'm cool. he's my new best friend. saved me a trip home. amoco has higher quality gas anyway.

don't you just love paying bills? i can honestly say that there is never enough to go around. i just wrote out about $1,000 for utilities, money i owe my parents, etc. i even took the time to figure out who gets what on the next check....what a day. i can't wait to start splitting some of this up with my roommate. maybe then i can start to chip away at some of my college debt. i can't begin to imagine how horrible the month of april is going to be with my insurance and car tags and the money i have to pay the state of indiana. all the better reason for me to sit down and re-figure my federal taxes, i suppose. i did them a couple of weeks ago, but then i got a couple of interest statements on my student aid, so i have a new deduction....i'll take what i can get, that's for sure.

well, i don't know how to get rid of that duplicate post, and i really don't care to worry about it, so guess it will have to stick....

i've spent today looking up festivals. i think i might try to make it to telluride for the bluegrass fest, but then again the leftover fest (1st annual) also sounds pretty cool. i definitely feel an urgency to get out and camp, listen to some tunes and boogie.

other news on the home front, i have been reading a lot of these weblogs through blogger.com, and i love this feature. so many websites were nothing more than pages of links before, now there's a little insight into what a person really feels and it's also an easy way to include links to interesting articles and sites. go weblogs!

today is a day to rejoice!!! dan, my future roomie, had his court date today. he told the judge that the case had been going on for way too long and it would be in their best interest to throw it out. the judge withdrew the case, soooo that means he'll be here soon! yeah! this is excellent news, since i've been anxious to have a partner in crime! he's been calling me ladybug in his e-mail....i like it...what a cute nickname. dan, can't wait for you to get here!

if i were to sit and listen to all of the tapes i have made lately it would be rather boring....seems like everyone wants the 9/18/87 show. it is a good show, but to listen to it 3 times in a row would be bit repetitious. anyone want a copy of 12/12/73....someone request it please! i need a change....not to mention an earlier show to make my day prettier....

well, today my mailbox has been over-flowing with messages from the mailing list at saturn.org. it's been a full-time job keeping up with the posts, but since i've been bored, i guess it keeps me busy. i slept in this morning to make up for the 2 hours i got the day before and so far it's been a good day. i finished up many of the b&p offers for tapes i had started and even got a nice copy of an 84 nassau show from john.....ah, the music never stops.
