Reflections

Ours is a brief sojourn
It's not really all that long
Naught but a few hours
Comings and goings, life and death
Time is an illusion, the Pretender
We're fraught with What ifs?
Could've/Might've/Should've beens?
Hindsight is truly wondrous
But what of foresight?

We see so many things in life
Comedy and drama and tragedy
We're bigger, faster, stronger
As people have we grown? Matured?
Take a moment, take a look around
Our brothers and sisters cry out to us
We see them, hear them, but turn away
Their pain, their suffering, is also ours
One family, so much to bear

We are His children
Created in His image
In this mirror we see ourselves
We're afraid to help, to love
We're afraid of ourselves
Yet His love shall redeem us all
