Absolute Cell Reference Exercise Open
Absolute_Cell_Grades; Save As: My Grades)
In the top spreadsheet you want to calculate the percent for each student
The percent is that student's points divided by 500
For Mary's (Cell C4) The formula would be =B4/D14
This formula will work for Mary, but if it is copied down, there will be an
error
The program automatically makes a formula relative to it's new row and
column
The formula would become B5/D15, B6/D16, etc. (No numbers in D15, D16)
The cell D14 must be absolute, so the formula in cell C4 is:
=B4/$D$14
Type that formula. Change the format to percent with 0 decimals and copy down.
For the second spreadsheet, there is no absolute cell
In cell D19 the formula is:
=C19/B19
Format for percent with 0 decimals and copy down.
Create a Header with your name at left, Date at right
Print. Make sure both spreadsheets fit on one page
Print so GRIDLINES show
File / Page Setup Sheet Tab (Put check to
left of gridlines)
