We'll start with high school which is where I had a lot of fun and got very little done. (It seemed that way then and it seems that way now so its probably the truth). I graduated in 1988 from Cheraw High School in Cheraw, South Carolina.
After convincing the state that I deserved a high school diploma I moved onward and upward to Francis Marion Univ. in Florence, SC. This was where the good stuff got even better. I met a lot of great people during my stay at Francis Marion and still have a lot of great friends from completing my undergraduate work there. After I graduated I stayed around for another 2 years as a graduate assistant for a good friend in the Physical Education Department. Francis Marion was an excellent place to get my undergraduate degree.
After deciding that walking across the stage and picking up a diploma was soooooo much fun, I decided to head back to school. I actually decided this before I graduated from Francis Marion but the numbers just weren't in my favor. I was accepted in the spring of 1995 to the Class of 1999 at The University of Health Sciences in Kansas City, MO to pursue my Doctorate. Kansas City was a great place to live (food, traffic and the people) and I left there leaving some very close friends behind. I graduated in May, 1999 after four years of medical school and a lot of time on the road. I had a lot of excellent opportunities during my clinical rotations. I did my core rotations in St. Petersburg, FL and most of my electives in Myrtle Beach, SC with the many excellent physicians who are there.
The University of Health Sciences
Currently I'm embarking on what will probably be the last step of my medical education. I'm currently in residency at The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. I am pursuing a career in Pathology which was one of the best choices I've ever made. The attending physicians and other residents are a great group of people and I look forward to working with them for years to come.
