Hi Aman!

You're not the only one confused by this "Cowell" run - a lot of people have been wondering.

For everyone's benefit:
The "Cowell Memorial Cross-country run" is in addition to, not in place of, the Hodson's run. This event apparently existed in the OLD days, and was revived last year.

The run is named after Sam Cowell, who was a unique figure in the history of Sanawar. He joined Sanawar as an infant, in the days when infants were looked after in the school. He was later a student, a teacher, and finally retired as Senior Master. In fact, he was the Senior Master immediately prior to T.A.C. (Trevor) Kemp. I'm sure a lot of the OS on this list will remember Mr. Kemp. Anyway, Sam Cowell spent practically his whole life in Sna.

The run itself is supposedly a killer. Starts at the school - down to Lover's Pond - down the dirt track behind Crater Hill to Garkhal - and then back up the main road to Sanawar. Everyone has to run, and everyone gets a position. Each position counts for a certain number of points (1st=1, 2nd=2, 30th=30,etc). The house with the least points wins.

Sounds like fun, eh? 8-<
