Rock & Roll is dead.... When people think that, they don't know this brand
new band called The Deadlines. They give new life to Rock 'n' Roll, while
singing about funerals, cemeteries, ghosts and whatever has to do with Death.
They seem to like those gothic-freak-bands walking on Cemeteries all night, but
they play up-tempo punkrock combined with a spooky organ... Quite depressing? NO
!!! Just check the lyrics of the first song.... "death & life in
rock 'n' roll, use your body, sell your soul", and you'll understand
that this band is not the punkrock-playing brother of Marilyn Manson and
Slipknot. They're clear about the message: we gotta run away from the devil and
run into the arms of God: "zombies, zombies, they are coming for you,
pray to God they don't kill you too".
As for the music, I totally LOVE this band.... Being a
keyboard-player, the simple keyboard-parts make me jamming along with this band
all the time and the topics where these guys sing about even make me laugh.
Humor and cool sentences in the lyrics combined with the horrifying sound of
this band... It's a strange contradiction, and I just love it... Take the song
Vampires In Love: "two vampires met one night/don't you know it was love
at first bite." They seem to ridicule these horror-clichés yet don't
lose their credibility when they're singing about more serious topics. Imagine
the Huntingtons or the Ramones jamming on a funeral, with the help of the
organist playing in the funeral-service.... There IS life after death, even for
the lost souls: "dead to sin, but alive in Christ"....
